THE CONFIDENCE CENTER NEWSEasy Ways to Raise Employee Morale And Build Personal Confidence May 15, 2002 - ISSUE #99 ------------------------------------------------------- WORDS OF WISDOM ------------------------------------------------------- WORD OF THE WEEK *** Balance *** QUOTE OF THE WEEK
TRIVIA QUESTION OF THE WEEK *** How many sets are there in a full-length men's championship tennis match? (Answer at the end of this week's newsletter.) ------------------------------------------------------- MORALE BOOSTER OF THE WEEK Making Brainstorming Fun ------------------------------------------------------- When brainstorming for ideas, have employees write their ideas on a blank paper and make paper airplanes out of them. Everyone then flies their planes. Everyone then picks up a different plane. Employees take turns announcing the ideas they discover in these paper airplanes. As the ideas are announced, have someone list the ideas on a chart. When people don't have to read their own ideas, they are more comfortable coming out with creative thoughts. This is a great activity for men because they will love making the paper airplanes and showing off their skills to the female employees. Having fun will help spark creativity and you will also create an atmosphere of acceptance, where innovative ideas will flourish. ------------------------------------------------------- CREATING CONFIDENCE Stop Comparing Yourself to Others ------------------------------------------------------- By Harriet Meyerson Comparing yourself to others lowers your self esteem because you think in terms of "being less than" or "being better than". The truth is that you can never accurately compare yourself to another since people differ in their abilities, their beliefs, and their experiences. The only valid comparison is to compare yourself now to where you used to be. HOW TO CREATE A PERSONAL PROGRESS NOTEBOOK Divide your life into the following categories- add more if you like:
Put the title of each category on a separate sheet of paper. Draw a line down the center of the paper. At the top of the left column write the words LAST YEAR. In the LAST YEAR column write where you were in beliefs and actions last year in this category. At the top of the right column write the words THIS YEAR. In the THIS YEAR column write the progress you have made in beliefs and actions in this category. CELEBRATE YOUR PROGRESS When you compare yourself today to where you were yesterday, you can see your progress in each category of your life. Do something you enjoy to celebrate your progress. ------------------------------------------------------- ANSWER TO THIS WEEKS TRIVIA QUESTION ------------------------------------------------------- Q.
