WORDS OF WISDOM
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
WORD OF THE WEEK
*** SUNSHINE ***
WORD OF THE WEEK ACTIVITY
*** Sunshine makes people happy. You can see the smiles on peoples faces when the sun comes out after a rainy day. However, you can spread man-made sunshine, even when it's raining, by saying a kind word, paying a compliment, and smiling. Think of yourself as human sunshine and light up somebody's day. ***
QUESTION OF THE WEEK
*** What are you going to learn this week? ***
QUESTION OF THE WEEK ACTIVITY
*** Learning something new can add excitement and meaning to your life. It can be knowledge that can help you at work or an outside interest. Choose something new to learn this week and share it with your co-workers.
QUOTE OF THE WEEK
*** "The problem in my life and other people's lives is not the absence of knowing what to do, but the absence of doing it." Peter Drucker ***

RAISING RAISING MORALE
The Best Thing That Happened This Summer
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Children are now back at school, and the favorite thing for teachers to do the first day of school is to ask, "What was the best thing you did this summer?" At work, you can ask your employees the same question. Have a pot luck lunch or an ice cream social and go around the table having each person tell "The best thing that happened to them this summer."
If you don't have time for a lunch or get-together, ask each employee to write a few of sentences about their summer. (You might want to give people a limit of space.) Compile a Best Thing That Happened This Summer newsletter and distribute to everyone. This creates interesting, enthusiastic, and positive conversation and helps co-workers get to know each other on a person basis.

BUILDING CONFIDENCE
Create an Achievement Journal
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Do the days, weeks, and months go by leaving you wondering, "What have I accomplished?" When you keep an "Achievement Journal" you will feel better about your progress in life. Include things you accomplish at work and in your personal life.
Take a notebook and use a separate page for each day. Each day write what you accomplished. It doesn't have to be something big. Every little step counts. At the end of each week review your "Achievement Journal" and reward yourself for your progress. The reward part is very important as many people feel resentful when their supervisor at work or people in their family don't notice what they have done or don't show appreciation. By rewarding yourself, you don't need to be dependent on others for your good feelings.
