WORDS OF WISDOM
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
WORD OF THE WEEK
*** BOLDNESS ***
WORD OF THE WEEK ACTIVITY
*** There is a part of you that is bold. Think about thetimes when you have had to act with boldness. What were they? To make progress in any pursuit requires boldness in both decision making and in action. Make a list of what you can do that requires boldness - then make a decision to choose one thing and do it this week. ***
QUESTION OF THE WEEK
*** Are you living to work or working to live? ***
QUESTION OF THE WEEK ACTIVITY
*** Balance is the solution to a meaningful life. Your work should support your life - which means you have to create a meaningful life separate from your work. Having a life after work will energize you, making you even more effective at work. Evaluate your life, and make some adjustments to balance it.
QUOTE OF THE WEEK
*** "No great deed has ever been undertaken in a bliss of certainty." Leon Wieseltier ***

RAISING RAISING MORALE
Back to School Swap
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Getting children ready to go back to school can be expensive.Children outgrow their clothes so quickly that many people have almost new children's clothes that their children have already outgrown.
Have a swap party where employees bring in their children's slightly worn clothes to sell or trade. This will create a fun atmosphere where employees can socialize and stretch their back to school budget.
Before bringing in the clothes employees should pin an index card to the clothes that tells the size, boy or girl's, the sale price, and the employee's name. Clothes can then be grouped according to sizes and a record can be kept of the sales to distribute the money.
The swap party provides a lot of social interaction as employees help out with the set up and sale. This activity doesn't cost the company any money and can save the employees a bundle.

BUILDING CONFIDENCE
Reaching Out for Success
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Many people lack the confidence to ask for the help they need or the things they want. Yet, reaching out is the only way to expand our horizons. When you ask others for help you are also giving them an opportunity to feel important and needed. It isn't necessary or even effective to try to do everything by ourselves. When we reach out to other people we are making the connections that help both the giver and receiver.
Make a list of the people who could help make you more effective at work and happier at home. Next to each name write what you could ask them to do.
Asking for help will be easier if you use words like, "Would you please..." "It would mean so much to me if you would..." "I have a problem, and I need your help with..."
