THE CONFIDENCE CENTER NEWSEasy Ways to Raise Employee Morale And Build Personal Confidence September 25, 2002 - ISSUE #117 ------------------------------------------------------- WORDS OF WISDOM ------------------------------------------------------- WORD OF THE WEEK *** Respect *** QUOTE OF THE WEEK
TRIVIA QUESTION OF THE WEEK *** How many stars were on the U.S. Flag in 1958? (Answer at the end of this week's newsletter.) ------------------------------------------------------- MORALE BOOSTER OF THE WEEK Special Days to Celebrate in October ------------------------------------------------------- Choose several of these to celebrate or plan a theme around in October October is NATIONAL POPCORN MONTH, http://www.popcorn.org ------------------------------------------------------- CREATING CONFIDENCE ------------------------------------------------------- By Susan Jordan Creating your own Ethics Journal is fun, meaningful, and builds self confidence. Writing down your values affirms your ethics and produces self-respect, boundaries and self confidence. Understanding your own beliefs, values, and ethics will make it easier for you to make the difficult decisions that you are faced with every day. Creating an Ethics Journal is an on going project that you can add to over the years. As the world changes and creates more ethical issues, you will be able to document a little history in your journal or scrapbook, as well. HOW TO CREATE YOUR ETHICS JOURNAL 2. Begin your journal or scrapbook with the title and date. Your first entry will be your statement as to your reason for compiling this information. 3. As you explore your core values you write your ideas regarding your ethics, beliefs and morals. In addition to writing your own thoughts, you can include articles from magazines or newspapers that hits a "heart-string" with you. You can also add photos, quotes, music lyrics, your own poetry or any keepsake to your journal. It's your journal and you can design it any way you want. Once you start gathering your "what makes you tick" collection of beliefs, your pages will come alive with your creative display of your personal values and morals. For example here are some things I put in my journal: A collection of autumn leaves because I value protection of our forest, a selection of an ethics newspaper article that was in agreement with my sentiments on "everyday ethics." I value our "freedom" so I placed a small American flag on one page. You now have displayed your ethics collection in many creative forms in a journal or scrapbook. For a finishing touch, women like to add a pretty ribbon around their journal or scrapbook, while men may prefer to tie theirs with leather shoelaces. Having your own Ethics Journal will give you the confidence and courage to stick to your ethical values during tough decision making situations. This is a unique way to pass down to your family, your ethics and morals that come from your heart. Your journal can also be an inspiration to your children who may want to create their own journals. ===================================== Print these colorful FULL PAGE SIZE QUOTES on your computer and post them on your bulletin boards, walls, lunchroom tables.
