MORALE BOOSTER OF THE WEEK

YES! Cards

-------------------------------------------------------

Contributed by Joan Kellogg, an independent consultant
associated with CommSolv, Inc.

Everyone can have fun with YES! cards. The purpose is to thank co-workers who help you by giving them YES! cards.

IDEAS FOR REWARDS

  • The employee with the most YES! cards gets recognized.

  • YES! cards can be turned in for gifts at the company store or snack shop.

  • YES! cards can be posted on a bulletin board for all to see.

  • Employees can put all their YES! cards for the week in a box for a drawing for prizes.

HOW TO MAKE YES! CARDS

  • Buy unlined, colored index cards.

  • Employees can write the word YES! on their cards and decorate them any way they want.

  • On the card the employee should write their name, the person's name they're giving the card to, the reason why and the date.

YES! cards will help create a spirit of cooperation in your company.

CREATING CONFIDENCE

CAUTION: Your Thoughts May be Harmful to Your Success

By Harriet Meyerson

-------------------------------------------------------

Be careful about what you think.

Are your thoughts positive or negative?

Earl Nightingale said, "You become what you think about all day."

Positive thoughts create energy, enthusiasm and motivation, while negative thoughts are damaging to both your personal and career success:

  • Negative thoughts about other people create fear and distrust in your relationships.

  • Negative thoughts about your abilities cause procrastination and lack of effort.

  • Negative thoughts about the future help create a negative future .

Negative thoughts are so damaging because people act on their thoughts.

YOU CAN CONTROL YOUR THOUGHTS

  • Think about a hot fudge sundae with whipped cream on top.

  • Think about the time you went on a vacation to the beach.

  • Think about your favorite relative.

In each case you made your brain think about something specific.

ELIMINATE THE NEGATIVE

You can use this same process to create positive thoughts and expectations all day long.

This process will be much easier if you first eliminate as many negative influences from your life as possible.

  1. Spend less time around negative people.

  2. Don't watch the news on TV.

  3. Don't read negative news in the newspaper.

FOCUS ON THE POSITIVE

Next- fill your brain with positive information.

  1. Read inspirational poems or quotes.

  2. Read stories about how people have overcome challenges.

  3. Listen to uplifting music.

POSITIVE RESULTS

Keep in mind that positive thoughts create positive experiences and the courage to overcome obstacles. When you make a habit of thinking positive thoughts your thinking will lead you to success. The more you practice positive thinking, the less doubt and fear you will experience. This will lead to more action on your goals, better relationships and more personal happiness.
